Acquisition and Pre-Order Value

The HX50 carries a base price of approximately £675,000, while the certified HC50 is £795,000. These figures are not achieved by stripping equipment, they reflect the elimination of external supplier margins through Hill’s vertical integration model.

Pre-order customers secure their delivery sequence with a £30,000 deposit for the HX50 or £50,000 for the HC50, and these positions are fully transferable, allowing owners to realise value from early commitment should their circumstances change before delivery.

Hourly Costs That Defy Category Norms

At an annual utilisation of 100 hours, the HX50’s estimated all-inclusive hourly cost is roughly £350 ($435USD). This figure includes fuel, insurance, scheduled maintenance, and overhaul reserves. For context, that positions the HX50 below the operating cost of its competitors, with costs around £446/hr and £536/hr, despite offering superior speed, payload, and cabin comfort.

The economic advantage stems directly from in-house manufacturing: because Hill controls the design, production, and support of the engine and airframe, it can set running costs without the premium pricing layers typical of third-party components.

The 5,000-Hour TBO and On-Condition Philosophy

A critical driver of low hourly costs is the 5,000-hour time-between-overhaul (TBO) on both the GT50 engine and the two main gearboxes, double the industry average. When overhaul is eventually due, the engine and the two gearboxes replacement cost is anticipated to be in the region of $150,000.

Every other component on the airframe is maintained on-condition, meaning there are no calendar-life items forcing expensive replacements at fixed anniversaries. A helicopter can remain in a hangar without silently depreciating due to a looming 12- or 15-year life limit on major parts. This philosophy aligns the aircraft’s value with its actual use, not the passage of time.

Warranty and Service Network

Hill supports the HX50 with an industry-leading five-year or 5,000-hour airframe warranty (three-year or 1,000-hour on the HC50), covering the aircraft from nose to tail. To deliver on that promise, the company is establishing tiered service centres in every major territory where orders exist, each staffed by factory-trained engineers and holding substantial local parts inventories. Owners also have the option to send their preferred maintenance engineer to PC1 for type-specific training, ensuring trusted local support is never far from home.

Hill Insurance

Insurance is often the hidden barrier to ownership. Hill has addressed this by creating Hill platform insurance, accessible directly through the Hill app. Because Hill partially underwrites the hull value alongside a conventional underwriter, the most expensive component of the premium is shared. It is an arrangement unique to the Hill ecosystem and one that materially lowers the entry threshold for new turbine owners.

Pilot Training Included

Transitioning to the HX50 or HC50 requires a conventional private or commercial helicopter licence, but Hill simplifies the process. Every purchase includes a five-hour type endorsement conducted at the factory, and a network of local flight schools is being rolled out to provide ongoing type training closer to owners’ home bases. The goal is to ensure that the path from delivery to solo command is as streamlined as the aircraft itself.
