There are five full sets of prototype starter generators almost ready for testing, with the last of the MGU components, the shaft components, the casings and various sealing elements now in production.

This work is being done to coordinate with our new high-speed testing facility which has just undergone the factory acceptance test so that it can be used to test all the starter generators, both in development and production.
This unit can first drive the generator part of the starter generator as a generator, and then act as a load as the starter motor works as a starter motor operating throughout the full operating range all the way up to around 50,000 rpm.
We expect this very important piece of equipment to arrive in time to be installed directly into our brand new PC1 factory by the end of April.
The power electronic system is ready and working, and has been tested on passive loads in the electrical lab, and we’re now just waiting for the hardware to arrive so we can test the starter generator and then be in a position to reach that exciting moment when we start the engine for the first time!
