Over the past two weeks, we've focused on two critical areas: the development of fuel injection nozzles and atomisers, and the advancement of our casting processes for super-alloy turbine blades.
8 Aug 2024
In this video, Jason dives into the complexities of casting high-quality turbine blades, explaining the meticulous steps taken to control the flow of liquid metal and capture any defects. We also take a look at our new furnace and running systems, designed to ensure the smooth and orderly filling of the blade cavities.
Crucial for the upcoming full combustion and gas generator tests is our latest success with the dual-orifice fuel nozzles, optimised through extensive computational fluid dynamics and ready for testing.
There are also new updates on the prototype speed reduction gearbox, starter generator units, and the ongoing work on the FADEC system. Plus, the design of our new test rigs, including the speed reduction gearbox test rig and nozzle test rig, is essential for ensuring the reliability and performance of the GT50 engine.
